The apple microphones absolutely do not detect heartbeats no matter what mode perhaps this app was meant to be a childs toy

Surprisingly enough this app totally works. Anyone having issues needs to find thselves a better pair of headphones, the Apple earbuds just dont go low enough to reproduce a heartbeat.

I got it to work after watching the utube videos under writingpeter. There is more to this App than meets the eye or ear. I am hearing impaired and I accidently found out I can hear the TV at low volume because it does a marvelous job of amplifying the sound. This is ear opening! However it does do what it is designed to do--there is a learning curve for the user. Watch the videos.

Absolutly amazing application. I will admit however a bit difficult at first to understand how it works but after about 5 min I got the hang of this and it works great. Anyone who gave it less then 4 stars probably is doing wrong or have it on the wrong mode. I saw a great result in the heatbear filter mode (the second one) works perfectly and you can use it almost anywhere on your body. You can try your neck, or even the back or your knee and hear it clearly. 5 stars ... Dont believe any thing less.

As a physician, I was intrigued by the claims that this would replace a stethoscope. The technology that has gone into developing electronic stethescopes and arterial Dopplers cannot simply be mimicked by a tiny iphone microphone not designed for that purpose.

In the documentation on the developer website, it is claimed that you can listen to audio through Bluetooth headphones, which is not true for the latest iOS using an iPhone 5S (there is no option to change sound output to airplay or Bluetooth, only iPhone or iPhone speaker. The app emits an annoying beep each time you touch the screen or do anything. The interface is very poorly designed. Unfortunate, as this is an interesting idea.

Dont bother downloading this it clearly doesnt work and not easy to use at all ! Stupid app ! I wish I had that $1 back now, I kinda feel like a chocolate bar from the store... Dang!

I ved purchased your stethoscope but despite the cost of it plus the postal expense and the custom charge for a total amount more than 50 euros, the product do not work. Maybe the jack is not operating and the microfone wires are insulated in a very poor manner with just a black scotch. Why you do not test the product?

I wanted to try it for myself and it was a complete fail.

The iPhone microphone is not capable of "hearing" the heart under normal circumstances. A stethoscope is special made to allow someone to hear it. This App is not able to achieve that ability.

Given the mic location in relation to the headphone jack on an iPhone 6, this is almost completely useless. Using an inline mic on earbuds is suggested as an alternative but is almost impossible to manage since you have to touch it so much to position. Waste of money.

At first, I thought this app didnt work and I tried all of the tips but could not get even the audio to work. However, it was the app that installed weirdly especially because I had the previous version called istethoscope without the pro. It kept saying that audio couldnt initialize, but perhaps if u re-download the app. Follow the guidlines and gently place the microphone (bottom left for 4g and bottom right for 3G(s)) at the below your left breast and feel around you should be able to get a clear reading.

Because I read the negative reviews, I knew this would be a challenging app. Since it was only 99 cents, I took a gamble. AND I also took five minutes to read the online documentation (Press Help on the app & it tells you the URL). I had to take a look at the ipod touch manual to confirm which mysterious hole was the microphone (on the back, next to the camera on a 4th gen ipod touch). Then I was ready to roll. I heard my heartbeat within 4 seconds, distinct and clear. I gave the ipod a shake, and a spectrogram appeared. I would suggest that those complaining, should google "Louis CK miracle" and watch the 4 minute video, which (accurately) explains that even the worst cell phone is a miracle. I cant get it to email my spectrogram, but now I know that my ipod touch is ALSO a stethoscope. In my part of the US, you cant buy a cup of coffee for under a buck, so I think this is a great app. The pro pro version ($5) would have tips on what to listen for when listening to your heart [maybe the author doesnt want to do that because hes a wealthy doctor and would be at risk of a lawsuit by one of the negative clueless reviewers-- a pity. [Update-- apparently the author does have such an app-- Im going to think about buying it] The "activation" is there to guarantee that you acknowledge you dont have a pacemaker. To the critic who said this app added nothing, I disagree. I recorded my heartbeat using the normal mike in the free (included) Voice Memo app by apple-- you could hear it, but much more faintly. The filtering of the app adds value.

I watched the videos and followed the directions. I couldnt get a reading even when I tapped on the mic. May work on your phone... just not mine.
